The Premier League Kicks team represented Arsenal in an Under 16s tournament against Millwall and Green Island FC, from Belfast, on 2 August in Bellingham, south east London, where the Arsenal boys put in some fine performances to claim victory.
Arsenal in the Community runs the Premier League Kicks initiative in Camden, Islington, Westminster and Hackney over six different sites, six days a week. One of the main aims of ‘Kicks’ is to encourage volunteering and create routes into education, training and employment.
‘Kicks’ is targeted at young people living in communities where they are considered to be more vulnerable to crime either as victims or potential offenders.
A key objective is to break down barriers between the police and young people and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the targeted areas. ‘Kicks’ proactively identifies project locations and has seen some positive results including pathways to employment and driving down anti-social behaviour in the local community.
